Honeymoon!

As most of you know, Griffin and I had to post pone our honeymoon due to his passport not arriving in time.  Apparently they are randomly flagging 15% of passport applications that come through & he was one of the lucky ones. We were both actually really glad it worked out this way.  We were both in need of a nice vacation & this trip couldn't of been more perfect.

We went to an all inclusive resort in Playa Mujeres Mexico (30 min from Cancun).  The people were all extremely nice, the beaches & pool were beautiful, and we felt very spoiled.  We did A LOT of eating alllll day long, laying by the beach, and going to shows at night.  A BIG thank you to Colleen, Griffin's mom, for giving us this trip.  We both had such a great, relaxing time.

I hope you had a restful & happy Spring break!  For all of you teachers, 9 more weeks to go.
WE CAN DO IT!

Happy Spring,
Amy

Lately

These last few weeks have been very hectic around here with Griffin working extra during the week & the past 4 weekends, craziness at school, & me traveling to see friends & families on the weekend.  We are both getting a case of Spring fever & are anxiously awaiting our trip to Mexico next week for our REAL honeymoon!

Here is a little glimpse of the past 2 weeks.
Last week we celebrated Dr. Seuss's birthday!  We have read several Dr. Seuss books & will continue to read more this week.  We do a fun activity with every book & add the cover of the book to our wall.  I didn't take any pictures on the big day but got a few on the "Foot Book."

The kids traced their own feet and came up with their own antonyms.

Our learning stations were all based on Dr. Seuss books.  I only remembered to take a picture of the reading & math stations.

We also continued our money unit last week. All week my kiddos had been working hard to earn coins for good behavior and hard work.  They could trade coins throughout the week and on Friday we had a "Honeybees Garage sale!"  Each student brought an item to sale & the kiddos got to buy one thing with the money they earned.

While I have been changing kids lives, ha, Griffin has been going back & forth from school & work & having lots of evenings staring at his Spanish book.

This weekend I went to Dallas to look at wedding dresses with my good friend Liz who is getting hitched in December.  It was such a fun time & she walked away with an incredible dress!

One work week, 2 papers & a test are all that keep us from an AMAZING spring break/honeymoon at an all inclusive resort. ahhhhh I can feel the sun & relaxation now.

Hope you all have a blessed week!

Sing Song

This weekend was ACU Sing Song!  I was a part of the Kojie act for 3 years & was so proud to have my sister, Emily in the act for her second time.  It was so fun to talk about all the acts, drama, & details of the shows. (Pretty sure we drove Griffin & my dad crazy!)

Kojies stole the show with their "Once you Pop the Fun don't Stop" Act.  I loved it & loved stomping on the stage with Emily & the rest of the Kojies after they announced they WON!

Click to watch the KJK Sing Song 2011 Video.

Congrats to Emily & all of the other Kojies on a winning act!

valentines

Let's be honest, I have never been much a fan of Valentine's Day.  Growing up, my dad always had roses waiting for me when I woke up because I never had a boyfriend. (ha!) I had some weird experiences in college that continued to strength my dislike for the day. This year was different thanks to a super excited class & a wonderful husband!

     My kiddos had a
     lot of fun doing
     different valentine
     related activities!

I found a cute Valentine brownie bag printable & printed bags & filled them with homemade brownies for teacher friends.  They were a hit!

Instead of giving out typical Valentines & candy, I made "love juice" for my kids.  My class loves buying water bottles & mix at the cafeteria so I knew when I was this idea it would be perfect for my group of kids!

Can I just brag on my husband for a minute?  He surprised me with so many sweet things when I came home from work.  Flowers, super fab jewelry, an HOUR MASSAGE, a clean house, a delicious home cooked meal, AND he watched Bachelor with me. PERFECTION!

I am so blessed with a loving family, friends, students, & husband!
I hope you felt as loved as I did.  If you still have the hate relationship I had with V-Day, hopefully leaving you with this sweet face will put a smile on your face.

XOXO.

Happy Birthday MOM!

Today is my wonderful Mom's birthday!  Emily & I were suppose to head to Temple today to celebrate with shopping & a family dinner on Saturday, but the crazy weather has kept us in Abilene.

I am so blessed to be one of the lucky ones who considers my mom one of my best friends.  We talk on the phone nearly every other day!  Our passion for children & teaching has brought us extremely close the past several years & I am so thankful to have a mom who makes the 3 hour drive several times a year just to "visit" my class.  Planning my wedding, our girls trip to NY, Vegas vacation, teaching together, & shopping trips to Austin are some of my favorite memories with my mom.    What a blessing it is to grow up with such a loving, compassionate, God fearing mother.  We were definitely spoiled/still are & I am excited to one day have children who she can continue to love on & spoil!  I love you MOM & I am incredibly thankful God gave me you!

Cabin Fever

Today was snow day #3 & can you believe we have tomorrow off too??  Monday seems like it was 2 weeks ago, but it has been nice having a week of our only worry being how many layers to put on before stepping outside & to walk as slow as possible so we don't bust.

Emily's pipes have been frozen since Tuesday morning so we have had project save Emily the past 2 days.  Griffin & I slid our way to her house Wednesday for her to come shower & hang out & Garrett brought her over today.  Emily, Alyson, & I looked for new houses & complained about being bored while the boys played Call of Duty.  You know I have watched too much TV, movies, & video games when I asked Alyson to please take me to the gym tomorrow if she goes!

Tonight I decided to get my act together & look for some ideas for the upcoming weeks of school.  I haven't felt as creative this year with the stress of getting my babies on their reading levels, but luckily there are some amazing teachers out there who seem to always have their creative juices flowing.  I came across this blog which offers FREE fun printables & great examples from lessons.  I am excited so start printing & continue searching for more ideas tomorrow!  If you are a teacher & have any blogs/websites where you get your ideas, please share!

Emily & I were suppose to head to Temple tomorrow for my Mom's birthday but the ice is keeping us in Abilene.  Maybe next weekend.....

Snow Days

Monday at school it  was a beautiful 70 degrees day.  I knew a "winter storm" was headed our way so I let my kiddos play outside longer than usual thinking we wouldn't be able to have outside recess the rest of the week.  I had NO idea what the winter storm had in store for us!  The storm started early Monday evening with thunder, lightning, & hail that soon turned to heavy sleet.  Throughout the night it began to snow & we woke up at 5:30 am to 6 in of snow!  School was cancelled Tuesday, today , and tomorrow!

Here is a look at our street & in front of our house Tuesday afternoon.  It looks the same today except the streets are like an ice skating rink.

Garrett has come over both days & brought his lab Tug to play with Reese.  They LOVE the snow!

I'm not so much a fan of 12 degrees with a wind chill of 10 below.

So glad I captured this moment of Griff & Jameson prying open his frozen door.

I love that Griffin & I have been snowed in together!

As I type this, the boys are cooking a big pot of deer chili & cornbread. This is something I could get use to! :)

As of now we have another snow day tomorrow & possibly Friday.  As much as we are enjoying our days off together & are thankful for the rest & break, we are beginning to get a case of cabin fever.  We'll see how much longer the ice stays....

I hope you are all staying safe, cuddled, & bundled!
